The game Bocce is an old Italian game which had been past down for generations. Bocce is a game played on a court about ten feet wide and about sixty-five feet long with wood sides. Greenbriar has three courts. The courts have a four inch cement base covered with Astroturf. Each team consists of four members, two at each end of the court. Each team has either red or green bocce balls. The object of the game is to get closest to a little white ball called a pallino. One point is given for each bocce ball that is closer to the pallino than the opposing team's bocce ball.
The Bocce Club has several teams that play throughout the week, two in the morning and the other teams in the afternoon. The season usually begins the beginning of May and ends in late September. The club ends the season with a tournament, cash prizes and a HUGE picnic.
No experience is necessary to play the game. Other players will teach you and you will have an enjoyable time.
The annual dues are nominal.
